The "AIRHEAD" (patent# 7,351,330) is a device housed in a box which both an air pump and solenoid valve are plugged into. The purpose of the Airhead is to turn both the air pump and the solenoid valve on and off at different, but precise times. This mechanism is controlled by the amount of air pressure in the aeration tank. It is also used to maintain a head of air in the aeration tank to oxidize iron and hydrogen sulfide. This is done by using a pressure switch, which is adjustable, and measures the air pressure in the aeration tank. The switch turns on a relay switch and energizes 110 volts of power to the electrical outlet turning on the pump. The solenoid valve, which bleeds any excess air and water out of the aeration tank, is also turned on at the same time. When the air pressure reaches approximately 10 psi it will shut off. The AIRHEAD is connected to a 110 volt household outlet by its power supply cord and is connected to the aeration tank by 3/8 inch tubing. This is a device that produces a method for activation of the air pump and vent.
Benefits:
No electrician required
No plumbing
Plug into ordinary 110v outlet
Can be used on any well system
Eliminates running out of air
Reduces number of cycles on the air pump
Injects air only when retention tank calls for it
No iron fouling of any parts (no contact with water)
No plumbing into water line saving labor and cost of fittings
Air pump will not run when irrigation system is running
Neat/clean looking installation
Eliminates need for a flow switch
Easy to Install
Mount airhead to the wall.
Hook 3/8 plastic line to the bottom of the airhead and to the john quest fitting that is screwed into brass tee on top of the aeration tank. [See Figure 1]
Remove chrome cover from airhead.
Plug airhead into outlet.
Plug maxi vent and air pump into airhead.
Turn water on at a bath tub/laundry tub/and sinks.
Adjust switch to get air pump to turn on at the same time that the well pump starts. [See Figure 2]
Unplug everything and replace cover and replug in electrical cords.

The Airhead With A Pressure Gauge
Part # AH-1G
Here is a photo of the Airhead with an optional pressure gauge for easy adjusting of the airhead. This is useful when the pressure tank and gauge is in a pump house or on the opposite side of the basement.
